NL Scholarships for Incoming International Students | Free Study in the Netherlands
First-time City U applicants who have attained an exceptional academic record in their most recent academic year are eligible to receive scholarships in this category.
- The President’s Merit Award Scholarship: a $5,000 award that will be distributed equally over the first three-quarters of the student’s academic enrollment
- Academic Performance The $2,000 scholarship will be distributed equally over the first three-quarters of the student’s academic program attendance.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Requirements
- Financial Declaration Form: Fill out this form and send it to the International Student Office. Based on your academic history, choose the right scholarship choice.
- For the President’s Merit Award Scholarship, you must have a cumulative grade average of 90% or above (based on CityU’s review of your transcripts for all of your previously completed coursework; if the full length of studies is not available, the Registrar’s Office may review your final year of study).
- Academic Achievement Scholarship: Based on City U’s review of your submitted transcripts for the entire length of your prior academic coursework—if the full length of studies is not available, the Registrar’s Office may review your final year of study—you must have a combined grade average of 75% or higher.
- You must be a first-time international student applying to City U with the goal of studying in the Seattle region on an F-1 international student visa to be eligible for any of the options.
- You must have applied for an academic degree program at least one month before the planned start date (certificate programs and ELP programs are not eligible).
- For the duration of the reward period, you must have an active I-20.
- You have to continue to be enrolled full-time.
- You have one quarter from the date of the award letter to begin your studies at City U after being granted a scholarship. After enrolling in degree program classes, the award will be applied, and students who begin in the ELP program must remain continuously enrolled, except for authorized vacation quarters.
